Bill Dorner started his career designing inkjet test equipment for AT&T and quickly moved on to Videojet Systems in the early 1970’s. As an electronic engineer, Bill designed the first packaging inkjet printer, called the Videojet Model 9000. It became the industry standard, and in its early years was used to print on aluminum cans at speeds of around 2000 cans per minute. Bill also made important advances to addressing in the graphics markets, designing the world’s first inkjet addresser at RR Donnelly in the early 1980’s. This technique provided some of the most sophisticated target marketing of its day for graphics and packaging production lines.

From designing inkjet printers, Bill moved to sales and marketing of Videojet printers and inkjet fluids. He has reviewed over 1000 different applications ranging from the very slow printing of wire harnesses, to the high-speed printing of Kodak film, Boeing white wires for airplanes, and numerous food and beverage applications. Throughout his career, Bill has gathered extensive knowledge of inkjet nozzles, inks, makeups, washes, cleaners, and related inkjet printing fluids. Dorner Associates specializes in the markets most used by Videojet, Willett, Linx, Hitachi, Domino, Imaje, and the Drop-on-Demand inks for Marsh and Diagraph.
